Welcome to Pete’s Designs. I build professional WordPress websites exclusively for painters and decorators on a “Pay What You Can” basis.
Because this is a hobby and a service to support local trades, I operate under a few simple, fair rules. This keeps things stress-free for me and ensures you get a cracking website to help you win more work.
1. The “Homework First” Rule
I do this in my spare time around family life, so I cannot spend weeks chasing you for details. I will only start building your website once you have sent me all of your content in one go:
Your phone number, email, and the areas you cover.
Your logo (if you have one).
5 to 10 good, clear photos of your own work (e.g., your best cutting-in, wallpapering, or exterior jobs). Note: You must own these photos—no taking images off Google!
2. The Pricing & Payment
Pay What You Can: There is no fixed fee for the design and build. You pay what you can honestly afford based on your current situation.
When to Pay: Once the site is built using my painter framework and you are 100% happy with it, you make your contribution. The site will go live immediately after.
3. Domains & Website Hosting
Free Hosting: I will host your website on my private server for free.
The Domain Name: You need a web address (e.g., yourbusiness.co.uk). If you send me the exact cost of the domain, I will buy and register it on your behalf.
Domain Renewals: Domains must be renewed every 12 months. I will remind you a month before it expires. It is your responsibility to send the renewal cost to me at least 14 days before the deadline. If you don’t pay, the domain expires and the site goes offline.
It’s Always Yours: The website and domain belong to you. If you ever want to move to your own commercial hosting or a different provider in the future, I will pack up the site and release the domain to you free of charge.
4. Timeline, Tweaks & Support
My Schedule: Because this is a hobby, I dictate the timeline. There are no rush jobs or strict deadlines.
The Layout: We will use a tried-and-tested, professional decorator layout. Minor changes, your own branding, and your photos are included. I do not offer heavy custom coding or complex technical integrations.
Ongoing Maintenance: Once the site is live, keeping it updated is your responsibility (I will show you how to do basic updates). I don’t offer 24/7 tech support or free lifetime text changes, but if you need a major edit down the line, we can chat about it if I have the free time.
Server Liability: While I keep my server secure and backed up, this is a hobby service. I am not a commercial data centre and cannot guarantee 100% uptime or offer compensation if a server hiccup happens.
By going ahead with your website means you agree to the above term & conditions.
